Music Monday

If you are an 80's kid and grew up watching MTV you had a handful of female artists that were popular. The question was asked the other day what was your favorite Madonna song?  I have to say I always loved the intro to this song. and after reading the comments it was like a musical reunion and one comment I did see where someone said the melancholy was getting heavy as they remembered moments with family and friends who were not around anymore. And I think that could be the reason why so many are trying to bring back and revive old tv shows we watched as kids. They are trying to bring back a more innocent place and time and stay in connection with moments they once had when they were younger. As the song goes you don't know what you got until it's gone and baby the 80's were EPIC 😍💥

Throwback Thursday

 One of my favorite singers from the days of when I first Casanova on Video Soul. Watching Unsung I heard how sometimes he was insecure of his voice in how big and loud he thought it was I was like what??? Two of my favorites I just heard the other day someone shared it. I love how you can just fall in love all over again with a song you have not heard in a while. Some just stand the test of time.

Food for thought

 It seems like each new day presents us with moments for us to choose and lose our focus on what matters most. When you are working 9 to5 you come home and you sit down and chill out for a few minutes. You get the chance to call a few friends or parents in my case being a teacher:) But you see that you have been in bubble. As you get online to check a few emails you come across certain headlines or videos shared. I don't know if it's different for others but being black online can be tasking as it seems you are to post about every other racial incident that shows up on the daily. 

A friend or coworker who is other will DM you and ask your opinion on such and such and see if you are ok! etc!!! I don't have the time or energy to speak out about everything they choose for us. For me it's all a distraction and can be distracting as to what matters most like I said before. I follow different voices other than my own those with a different perspective so I'm not just an echo chamber of my own thoughts. It's good to be challenged as to what and why you believe what you do.

There is good and bad with social media, but I found these words from a young lady I follow, and I was like I'm feeling the same way.

Grown folks going at each other over dresses, comedy skits animal memes things that will make us lose our focus. And one wonders in the long run will it matter?10 or 20 years from now?  Things I don't have time for and are not needful me at all in this season. We have 24 hours each day and to spend it always responding to this or that is it even wise?? To each is own I guess? but how do you live like that waiting to see what the next outrage moment will be. Maybe it's all a distraction for some not to focus on themselves and what they may be going through. But day after day giving energy into the negativity takes you away from little moments that are happening that you can't see. 

So 

Here it is, short and simple:

I’m not letting viral moments emotionally hijack me.

What has changed is my focus.

This season is family over frenzy, real life over rage bait, and peace over performative outrage.
